Let’s Hear it for Our Staff – Anna Battle

Let's Hear it for Our Staff - Anna Battle

From Lori Hebert, Program Director, about Anna Battle, Field Supervisor, both of the Strength to Succeed Program at Granite Pathways.

“Anna stands out on many levels from her supervisory skills to her facilitation skills. The annual Division for Youth, Children and Families (DCYF), the program funder, had their annual conference last week. Anna led a team in delivering a workshop to roughly 100 DCYF workers and community partners. The workshop: The Five Stages of Change (Transtheoretical) Model of Behavior Change focused on strategies of engagement with parents for DCYF workers within each stage. The workshop was developed for 50 attendees or under, over 100 individuals registered and participated.

Anna with her team, pivoted without hesitation in adjusting the training to present to double the number anticipated. Anna’s presentation style was informative and engaging. She led the other presenters with confidence and delivered the message with clarity. She facilitated the large group in an impactful conversation on engagement. Anna is a leader at all levels, represents the program’s mission with professionalism that deserves recognition.

Thank you, Anna!”

Seacoast Pathways Presents to UNH Students

Seacoast Pathways Presents to UNH Students

Members of Seacoast Pathways Clubhouse, a community organized to support individuals living with the effects of mental illness, recently gave a 90-minute virtual presentation to 27 Occupational Therapy (OT) students at the University of New Hampshire.

There is synergy between OT and the clubhouse model, said Ann Strachan, Granite Pathways Mental Health Services Director. “Both have a work focus. OT is geared towards breaking down tasks and finding ways to perform them, and the Clubhouse is a simulated work environment where members progress from basic to higher level work skills as they work towards integrated employment.”

Seacoast Pathways has hosted four interns from UNH over the past few years. The internships provide an opportunity for the students to learn directly from Clubhouse members about their experiences in the community, the stigma surrounding mental illness, and reintegration into the community after hospitalization. The students were especially interested in the aspect of the Clubhouse model that leaves the diagnosis at the door—they are treated as a person rather than a person with symptoms.

“OT therapists often work with children, and sometimes they don’t think about the mental health aspect of rehabilitation. It was eye-opening for them to consider all that is possible in this field.”

Seacoast Pathways has a few fundraisers coming up, including an online auction with an Earth Day theme. The auction takes place the week of April 18-25. For more information call Ann at 603-748-8955.

Granite Pathways Celebrates Two Years as a Recovery Friendly Workplace

Recent News

Granite Pathways is celebrating its 2-year anniversary as an officially Designated Recovery Friendly Workplace! As one of the 28 early adopter workplaces, Granite Pathways is proud to support the RFW vision and our shared commitment to support those who have been impacted by substance use disorder. In our role as a not-for-profit provider, we work with individuals and families to support recovery and to achieve economic well-being. Through this designation, we also reinforce the message that we support our employees as well and welcome them to reach out for help and support if they are struggling with SUD, another behavioral health issue, or perhaps just need a boost to support their own recovery.

We are grateful for the work of the Recovery Friendly Workplace initiative to promote individual well-being and to encourage and support businesses to create environments that foster success for employees in recovery. Both components of this work are essential, and we look forward eagerly to ongoing partnership and collaboration with RFW to advance this important mission.

Help Reen Stay Connected

Help Reen Stay Connected

We’re working to help our friend Reen, a member of Seacoast Pathways, to obtain a new laptop. Reen has been working with adults with developmental disabilities in health and human services while also experiencing her own mental illness. A new laptop will help Reen with her myriad communication needs and keep her connected, but it will also help our program because her involvement and leadership are key to other members’ success. See her story and please consider making a contribution today. Thank you!

NH Legal Assistance – Eviction Clinic

NH Legal Assistance - Eviction Clinic

New Hampshire Legal Assistance (NHLA) and the Legal Advice and Referral Center (LARC) will begin offering a free, weekly online Eviction Clinic to the public on January 20.

During the weekly sessions, attorneys and paralegals will provide free legal information on tenants’ rights during the eviction process. This clinic is intended to inform tenants about New Hampshire’s eviction law and procedure. However, the outcome of an eviction case usually rests on the specific facts of a case and the application of the law to those facts. Therefore, legal aid advocates can answer general questions but not provide legal advice on a specific case at the clinics.
